Özellikle rol aldığı Hammer korku filmleriyle efsaneye dönüşen Christopher Lee AOTC’un oyuncu kadrosunda da yer alıyor.Bu sezon ilk olarak “Yüzük Kardeşliği”nde izleme imkanı bulduğumuz oyuncuya 21.İstanbul Film Festivali’nde özel bir bölüm ayrılmıştı.

Uzun,esmer ve ürkütücü…Bu üç sıfat bir araya geldiğinde, Christopher Lee’nin 1977 yılında yayınlanmış olan otobiyografik kitabının ismini de oluşturmakta.80 yaşına gelmiş olsa da oyunculuğa asla ara vermeyen büyük oyuncuyu tanımlamak için seçilmiş bu anahtar kelimeler yine de Christopher Lee fenomenini açıklamak için yeterli değil.

Christopher Lee 1922 yılının 27 Mayıs’ında dünyaya gelmiş.Astrolojiyle ve Bioritmle ilgilenenlere belki ilginç gelecektir,korku sinemasını bir diğer büyük oyuncus olan Vincent Price ‘ın doğum günü de 27 Mayıs imiş.(yıl 1911)Lee2nin pek çok filmde başrolü paylaştığı Peter Cushing’in doğum günü ise 26 Mayıs (1913).

Londra’da dünyaya gelen Christopher Lee,oyunculuğa başlamadan önce 2.Dünya savaşı sırasında Kraliyet ordusunun hava kuvvetlerinde görev almış.Ayrıca İngiliz istihbarat servisinde de çalışmış.Almancasının çok iyi olmasının sebebi de bu olsa gerek.

1948 yılında “Corridor of Mirrors” isimli filmle oyunculuğa başlamış.O zamandan bugüne değin rol aldığı filmlerin sayısı 2502ye yaklaşıyor.Oyunculuk kariyerinin ilk 10 yılında çeşitli İngiliz filmlerinde irili ufaklı roller üstlenen Lee2nin kimi filmlerindeki sahneleri çıkartılmış, kimilerinde ise adı jenerikte yer almamış.İlk önemli rolü ise 1957 yapımı “The Curse of Frankenstein” da canlandırdığı yaratık.Korku filmleri sinemasında Hammer filmleri dönemini başlatan bu film,aynı zamanda Lee’nin korku filmleri tutkunları arasında bir kült ikona dönüşmesinin de önünü açan yapım.Ayrıca pek çok korku filminde beraber rol alacağı Peter Cushing ile uzun süreli rol arkadaşlıklarının başlangıcı da “ The Curse of Frankenstein” ile olmuş.Aslında Lee ve Cushing daha önce Laurence Oliver’ın “Hamlet” i (1948) ve John Huston’ın “Moulin Rouge”unda da aynı seti paylaşmışlar.Ancak korku sinemasının tarihine geçecek ortaklıkları Dr.Frankesntein ve yaratık rolleri sayesinde başlamış.

Terence Fisher’ın filminin kazandığı başarı sonucunda peşinden benzerleri geldi.Örneğin yönetmen koltuğunda yine Terence Fisher’ın oturduğu ve Lee ile Cushing in bir kez daha karşı karşıya geldikleri “Dracula” gibi.Lee bu filmde canlandırdığı Kont Drakula rolü ile adeta özdeşleşti.Korku filmlerinde defalarca kötü karakterleri canlandırsa da ,çoğunluk onu sivri dişleri ile hatırladı.Lee Kont Drakula’yı “Dracula :Prince of Darkness” (1966) , “Dracula Has Risen from The Grave” (1968), “El Conde Dracula” (1970), “Taste the blood of Dracula” (1970), “Scars of Dracula “ (1970), “Dracula A.D. 1972” (1972) gibi filmlerde tekrar canlandırdı.Elbette yine Fisher’ın yönetiminde Cushing ile beraber rol aldığı “The Mummy” de mumyayı, Fu Manchu serisinin kimi filmlerinde de Fu Manchu’yu canlandırdığını da unutmamak lazım.

Tıpkı Boris Karloff,Bela Lugosi veya Vincent Price gibi korku sinemasının markalarından birisine dönüşen Christopher Lee, tek tip karakterler canlandırmadığı için saygınlığı artan bir oyuncu.Örneğin Sherlock Holmes’u canlandırarak oyunculuk yeteneğinin sadece kötüleri canlandırmakla sınırlı olmadığını kanıtladı.Ayrıca kimi komedi filmlerinde rol alarak izleyicileri güldürmekten de geri kalmadı.Spielberg’in “1941”inde bir Nazi subayını, “Gremlinler 2”de ise genetik araştırmalar yapan bir bilim adamını canlandırdı.Philippe Mora’nın yönettiği 1983 yapımı müzikal-komedi “The Return of Captain Invincible” daysa şarkı söyledi.

Christopher Lee’yi bu sezon içerisinde “Yüzüklerin Efendisi:Yüzük Kardeşliği” nde izleme imkanı bulmuştuk.Üç bölümü bir arada çekilen seri sayesinde onu iki kez daha saruman rolünde izleyebileceğiz.Bu ay ise bir başka sinema efsanesinin parçası olarak karşımıza çıkacak.
